CPU usage of fluid.ampslice~

In finishing up my main performance patch and reducing CPU usage, I was surprised to see that fluid.ampslice~ was one of the top items in my “Show CPU Usage” queries.

So I compared it to the vanilla Max version to see which cost more, thinking I would show how much more expensive fluid.ampslice~ was.

Well…it’s not more expensive. It’s cheaper actually.

Here is a patch that has 100x fluid.ampslice~ as compared to 100x the vanilla Max version:

(I don’t recommend this for normal usage…)

That’s comforting, I think! Just ran the external through a profiler, and can’t see anything too offensive, but a long hard look at performance is on the horizon…
